Could Joining a Bridal Team Be Good For You

Updated: Apr 11

Five years ago, I found myself stuck in a routine of doing just regular hairdressing, with just a

handful of weddings each year and I was longing for something more. While I was skilled at my job, pulling in a decent income each month was difficult.

I really wanted to be more involved with weddings, my favourite thing!

So, I quit my job and started working for myself to pursue my dream of becoming a bridal hairstylist, but working full-time in the industry still felt like just a dream.

It was me, my hair kit and a rented chair in a local salon.

Balancing regular hairdressing clients and wedding bookings was tough, the hours were brutal, but the job was reliable and after 10 years of working with brides I was decent at it, pulling in about £2K a month.

But this wasn’t enough…..

I was passionate about the wedding industry and dreamed of working with more brides, making it my full time job.

The problem was, despite my dedication, I felt invisible in the industry, brides weren’t finding me online and securing bookings felt like an uphill battle.

Then came the day everything changed,

I joined a bridal team, my life started to look and feel different. I started working with industry professionals at wedding venues I'd only dreamed of working at, who guided me on how to work with brides, communicate effectively, handle wedding days and navigate previews. They showed me every detail of the journey working weddings. I suddenly had the opportunity to start building a portfolio of the work I loved to do, by taking part in training days, working alongside other stylists learning from one another sharing successes and wins being part of a team. It was really an incredible journey that helped me to build my bridal business to what it is now.

Fast forward to today, and my life is unrecognisable from what it once was. Thanks to the support and guidance of being part of a bridal team I am now living a life I consider ‘next level’. Being recently recognised for my hard work , passion and skills by winning the national TWIA award has been an incredible honour. It's a big contrast from where I started  and still feels surreal at times.

If you’re reading this because you are seeking a team to support your growth and help you find your footing in the industry, or simply to boost your confidence and skills, it’s crucial to find the right fit. I was fortunate to find a team that believed in me as much as I believed in them. Now, I’m looking to extend the same opportunities and support to others who are passionate and driven, to help them thrive in the bridal industry.
