Wedding hair styling frequently asked questions

 Booking

*How soon should I book?

As soon as you know your wedding date, my diary gets very busy for popular dates throughout the year. Bookings can be made up to anywhere between 2- 3 years in advance. With most brides enquiring of my availability 1 year - 18 months in advance.

*How do I book?

To secure your booking with me please confirm by email and simply fill out and return the booking form to me and transfer your 20 % booking fee.

*How much do you charge?

All prices are available for you to view via the prices and services page.

*I’d like to know your availability before filling out a quotation form. How do I do this?

Simply pop me over an email via the contact page and I can check my availability for you.

*How long does it take to style the hair on the day?

Bridal hair is approximately one hour but may be longer or shorter depending on the chosen style.

Other wedding party guests (e.g bridesmaids, mother of the bride/groom) take approximately 40 - 45 mins and flower girls approximately 30 mins.  A wedding morning timeline will be given to you after your trial run.

*Do you charge for travel?

Travel of up to 15 miles from my home is complementary after this a charge of 45p per mile is charged.

Travel charges will be incorporated into your quotation.

*Where do you travel?

Based in Cambridgeshire I cover the east of England but

I’m happy to travel wherever my brides need me so anywhere in the UK!

*Travel and accommodation charges apply.

*Do you have a minimum booking amount?

Yes, during the months of April-September there is a minimum booking requirement of 4 people. Outside of these months smaller weddings can be catered for upon request.

Trials

*When should I wash my hair before the trial?

On the day of your trial. It is best to have freshly washed and dry hair. This can be either in the morning ( if your hair is particularly oily or heavily loaded with product) or the night before. Advise on hair care and washing can be given at your trial when I have fully assessed your hair type.

*When should I have my hair trial?

There is no set time frame, however I would suggest no earlier than

3-6 months before the wedding. Around this time most of the important details will have been chosen, especially the dress and you will have a clear idea of how you would like to look.

*How long will my trial take?

I usually allow around 2 hours for your trial. This will give us enough time to try a few styles out. If you're torn between up or down we can try both, style it down first then pop it up after. I will always take photos during your trial as this will help you to see what your hair looks like at all angles and to compare both styles if you are still undecided.

*Can my bridal party have a trial run also?

Yes, If anyone in your bridal party would like to have a trial then please contact me further and this can be arranged.

*Where does the trial take place?

Currently trials take place at the salon in Ely during the week.

Trials can also be arranged to take place at your home depending on location and will be subject to return travel charges. Contact me for further information.

*I think I may need hair extensions for my hair style. Do I need these before my trial?

Not necessarily, I have a small selection of clip in hair extensions that we can try out in your hair at your trial. If you are unsure if you need them or not, I can help you with how to purchase the correct type for your hair style if needed. Alternatively if you already have clip in hair extensions or currently wear extensions then I am able to work with these as well.

*Do I need to have my veil and hair accessories for the trial run?

If you have already purchased your hair accessories then please bring these along with you and we will incorporate them into your style. If you have not yet chosen to have any and you’d like to try some out I do have a small selection of hair accessories and veils available to try at the time of your trial.

On the wedding day

*When will you arrive?

I will always aim to arrive early wherever possible. I will allow 15 mins to set up before we get started. This will all be mapped out for you in your timeline after your trial.

*What if I change my mind on my style on the day?

Don’t worry this has happened lots of times. As we will have already met at your trial I will have a pretty good understanding of your hair and what it can do so we can always work on a new style on the day if you change your mind at the last minute.

*Will you stay until I'm completely ready and in my dress?

Yes, I will stay right up until you are ready to walk down the aisle for any last minute adjustments.
